The Thousand-Plated

A 3D game you play right in the browser, with all the fun of ARPG gear collecting.

An ARPG built around gear collecting, with auto-battle supported. No classes: how you split Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence, and how you combine your gear, decide who your character becomes. Battles drop single pieces, boss fights drop full sets, and once you put them on, your character's look changes with them.

Tripo × Blender: from one image to a model ready for battle

Every weapon and every character in the game goes through the same pipeline: Codex draws the concept, Tripo turns it into a textured 3D model and rigs the characters, Blender scripts refine them in bulk, and the result is compressed into glTF the browser can load smoothly.

Bring Them Home

The world

The Battle of Brokenhorn left thousands who never made it home. Their armor is now worn by monsters, scattered across the wastes, the rift, the fortress and the court. You set out in a tank top and shorts, and bring that armor back, piece by piece.

Brokenhorn

The five residents of the town
The forge RivetView in 3D →

Rivet老铆钉

Brokenhorn's blacksmith

Brokenhorn's only blacksmith, past sixty; every pot, hoe and door bolt in town came off his anvil. As a young man he went to the royal court to study under Herl, the master soulsmith, and stood outside the door for three days before he was let in. A few months later the war began, so he can forge iron but not souliron. Most of the patches on Captain Cole's battle-scarred armor are his work. He once had an apprentice, and never speaks of him. Gruff tongue, soft heart; he talks like hammering iron, one dry joke after another.

The collection house TiaView in 3D →

Tia缇娅

Undertaker

The town's undertaker, and its tailor. The first thing her master taught her was: "The armor may not come back, but the name must." After the Battle of Brokenhorn too many names came back and too little armor, and her apron is now covered in name tags with nowhere to hang. Captain Cole's was the first one she sewed on her own. Every time Eve turns up a name, she runs over to have Tia sew another. Gentle and quiet, with the occasional pitch-black remark out of nowhere.

Old barracks HearnView in 3D →

Hearn赫恩

Survivor of the Battle of Brokenhorn

In the Battle of Brokenhorn he was a sergeant in the Third Legion's Shattered Shield Battalion. The day they fell back to Brokenhorn Fortress, the barbican gate shut in their faces, and of the whole battalion left outside, only he came back, dragging one leg. Old centurion Cole took him in and had him train the town guard; that was forty years ago. Gruff and loud, he hides his guilt behind shouting. He never mentions his company commander Valen or his old squad leader Grey, and he has never forgotten them.

The archives EveView in 3D →

Eve伊芙

Town clerk

The town clerk and self-styled "scholar of the wastes", hugging a roll of the fallen wider than she is and matching each piece of armor on the monsters back to a name. Her grandmother Serin was vice-commander of the Court Mage Corps; the night before the Battle of Brokenhorn she led the whole corps into the Abyssal Rift, and the roll says only "missing". Eve's mother still keeps the little height marks on the doorframe. Eve says it is all for scholarship. Really, she is looking for one name. Curious and exacting, with an unsettling fascination for monsters.

Expedition post MardaView in 3D →

Marda玛妲

Keeper of the post

Keeper of the post. It used to be a royal army relay station, where her father wrote receipts for soldiers marching out: come back, and the receipt gets you your stored belongings. After the Battle of Brokenhorn nobody ever came for that stack of receipts, and it still sits on her counter. The top one belongs to an archer called "Sixes" Jack, who still owed the post twelve silver when he left. She says she keeps them so she can collect. Shrewd, brisk, and full of a merchant's black humor.

FINAL BOSS

Thousand Armor

A villager, just like the player. After the Battle of Brokenhorn, he was the first to go out and gather armor from the wastes, but couldn't bear to send it back, and put it on, suit after suit. The collector and the Thousand Armor are one step apart: sending it home.

Every character starts as four views: front, left, back and right. Only after review does it go on to modeling and rigging, and finally into the game as glTF.

I do the review; agents can't wave anything through on their own. A character that doesn't pass doesn't cost a single modeling credit.

Bring Them Home

Who wore the 40 armor sets

Every set has an original owner: someone who never came home from the Battle of Brokenhorn, each with a wish left unfinished. Bringing the armor back is bringing them home.

Battle-Scarred Armor

ColeCaptain of the Brokenhorn guard

Once a centurion of the Third Legion's Shattered Shield Battalion, he was carried off the field on the first day of the Battle of Brokenhorn and sent back to town. He spent the life he got back guarding the town gate, for twenty years, and died at that gate. He used to say: taking a hit is fine, as long as you give it back.

WishHold this gate

Brokenhorn Watch

ValenCompany commander, Shattered Shield Battalion

On the day of the Battle of Brokenhorn he raised his shield, turned and ran. Later he went back into the wastes alone and never came out.

WishRaise the shield once more, and not run this time

Rustblade Fanatic

Old BranAxeman, Third Legion

A Wheatstack man who chopped firewood half his life, and everything took him three strokes: one to loosen, one to split, one to break. The day he marched off, the woodpile in his yard was only half done.

WishGo home and finish that woodpile

Wastes Blooddrinker

Red LidaAssault trooper, Third Legion

The more it hurt, the fiercer she got. The army surgeon said she had more scars than medals; she said that was because they didn't hand out enough medals.

WishGo home for a sip of her sister's fruit wine

Corpse Flayer

HarkScout-hunter, Third Legion

A hunter's son who could skin a rabbit quick and clean. In battle he went straight for the opening, one cut after another.

WishTeach his son to snare rabbits

Ranger Captain

OllieCaptain, Second Ranger Company

Nocked three arrows at a time, so she said she'd never have to choose. Her company was all half-grown kids: she yelled at them the loudest and shielded them the hardest. On the march she promised an elf girl in Wheatstack she would come back for her after the war and take her into the company.

WishBring every kid in her company home alive

Drygrass Stalker

SimonMarksman, Second Ranger Company

Could lie in the dry grass all day without moving, and the farther the target, the truer his shot. The farthest thing he ever saw was the point just past his arrowhead.

WishSee the sea, just once

Rotbone Priest

Old GageSurgeon, Third Legion

His medicine was bitterer than poison, and his poison worked better than medicine. The wounded said you drank his medicine so you'd never need a second bowl.

WishOpen an apothecary that charges nothing

Ash Apprentice

PipApprentice, Court Mage Corps

The youngest apprentice in the Court Mage Corps. The night before the Battle of Brokenhorn he was sent to light the signal fire at the front, which is why he did not vanish with the rest of the corps.

WishBecome a real mage, with a real pointed hat

Iron Wanderer

Little WheatCook, Third Legion

A Wheatstack boy, and the best scavenger in the battalion: a cracked pot, half a bag of salt, a scrap of iron someone threw away, in his hands it all became a hot meal. He was seventeen when he died.

WishGive the whole battalion one hot meal
